Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
TOPIC: Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Q1. How many Category 1 CPD points will GPs receive?
GPs who participate in the trial regardless of allocation to intervention or control group will receive 40 Category 1 CPD points. This activity has been approved by the RACGP.
To receive Category 1 points GPs will need to review up to 10 patients who are in the trial based on a pre/post audit report for these patients and to reflect on their management of these patients (audit B and Audit C)
Q2. Will GPs also receive Category 2 CPD points?
GPs who complete all 3 on-line modules from the study can also claim Category 2 points. This will be equivalent to approximately 1 hour (2 points). These on-line modules can be done at anytime convenient to the GP.
Q3. Can PNs also claim CPD points?
Practice nurses will receive a certificate following the completion of the 3 on-line modules. This certificate will outline the components of the training and nurses can use this to complete self-assessment documentation to satisfy the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) requirements for CPD recognition.
Participation in facilitation and the health check for patients can also be used as a CPD self-assessment activity.
