Rationale

New medical schools are basing their clinical training in non-hospital settings, particular private GP settings. The assunption is that GPs wil be willing and able to provide extended clinical training previously provided in hospitals. The project seeks to identify the potential impacts on GPs and whether they will be willing to act as trainers and educators.

Aims

To find out why GPs take medical students and act as trainers and educators

To identify the barriers and enablers that must be addressed if GPs are to take a more active role in undergraduate medcial education.
