GENERAL PRACTICE – data sharing between practices has positive outcomes. GPs provide valuable input into research for community projects
The Academic General Practice Unit has a number of interesting research projects underway requiring input from GPs in South Western Sydney. The Health Contribution Fund (HCF) has funded the Academic General Practice Unit to help examine diabetes care, employing data from the electronic practice based research network, with a focus on any relationship- to hospital admissions.
The 2013 Annual Forum
You are invited to attend The 2013 Annual Forum on Friday 2 August from 9.30am to 1.30pm in the UNSWScientaBuilding. Eileen Baldry, Professor of Criminology School of Social Sciences, Deputy Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will give The 2013 Ian Webster Health for All Oration. Professor Baldry is known for her work with Jane Lloyd on Primary Health care for indigenous people released from custody.
Collaboration is the key to developing primary health care
The Centre is working with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and the South Eastern and Eastern Sydney LHDs as they develop a more integrated approach to primary health care. Gawaine Powell Davies sits on the Collaboration Committee with the Local Health District and Medicare Locals and is part of a group overseeing a consultancy to develop a shared framework for developing primary health care.
The Biggest Losers are...Study shows that poor health literacy has a direct effect on obesity outcomes
The Centre Obesity Management and Prevention Research Excellence in Primary Health Care pilot study into disadvantaged adults has just been completed. This study aimed to explore the feasibility of enhancing preventive care for patients with low health literacy in Australian primary care.
