A seminar on HAVING THE HARD CONVERSATIONS: Good practice in addressing individual and institutional resistance to Indigenous health and cultural safety education was held on Tuesday 17 November 2015 from 12 noon to 1.30 pm in the Hugh Dixson Room of the AGSM Building.

It was presented by Professor Dennis McDermott and Mr Dave Sjoberg of Poche Centre for Indigenous Health and Wellbeing (Adelaide), Flinders University.

Gudaga celebrates 10th Birthday

Gudaga celebrates 10th Birthday

October saw us celebrating 10 years of the Gudaga Research Program with the local Aboriginal community, Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation (TAC), the families and children who are participating in the research, our research partners, services and supporters. The 10th birthday took place on 28th October 2015 and was hosted by TAC.  It was a well-attended event with children enjoying Aboriginal games, painting, music, and of course balloons and birthday cake.  It was a day of celebration with memories of Gudaga from early days and across the years with participating families, children and staff.

CPHCE is proud to announce that our Executive Director Professor Mark Harris has been elected as a fellow to the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. He was awarded the fellowship at the Inaugural Annual General Meeting and Scientific Meeting of the Academy held in Canberra on October 6th 2015.

Professor Evelyne de Leeuw officially starts as CHETRE’s Director on October 1st.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Evelyne de Leeuw officially started as director of the Centre for Health Equity Training Research and Evaluation (CHETRE) on October 1st 2015.  She succeeds Acting Director Karen Edwards, who is moving on with her consultancy work. Evelyne brings with her decades of research in Healthy Cities and local government policy processes and the capacity to provide strategic advice on policies and governance arrangements for healthy urban planning.
