Research Hubs

Posted 23 October 2014

We now have three research hubs, with South Western Sydney, South Eastern Sydney and Sydney Local Health Districts. These create partnerships within which we conduct research that is locally relevant and lend a research-based perspective to health service development.

- in South Western Sydney CHETRE (led by Assoc Prof Lynn Kemp) research includes early childhood home visiting and Aboriginal child health (Gudaga projects), and well as projects on health and housing with the Division of Population Health and Housing NSW and the Community Star centre in Miller

- in Sydney we have established the Health Equity Research and Development Unit with the LHD, (led by Assoc Prof Elizabeth Harris). HERDU is using equity focused health impact assessments to strengthen the focus on equity in LHD plans, and has a project (also with the Medicare Local) to improve access to primary health care in Canterbury.

- the hub in South Eastern Sydney, led by Dr Julie McDonald,  is just being established. We are currently working with the LHD on integrated care and primary health care development.

We are grateful to the Local Health Districts for their partnership and support.
