Professor Gill Rowlands’ research focuses on health inequalities and the pathways through which social disadvantage impacts on health and illness. She has an interest in health literacy and set up the UK Health Literacy Group.

Professor Rowlands will be talking about how and why GPs and nurses should improve their health literacy practice, and describe her current work to develop an intervention to improve GP knowledge and communication through health literacy training and the use of medical health record prompts.
