The aim of the forum is to generate a dialogue for service providers and residents around addressing alcohol related harm. The forum idea has come out of the CHETRE 2010 household survey in Miller that identified public drinking as one of the two main crime and safety issues for residents. A small survey was also conducted, by Liverpool Council staff, of workers from the services based around Miller Square. It found that public drinking was an issue for these workers as well as safety issues generally.

Emeritus Professor Ian Webster will be the keynote speaker at this forum. He will talk about ‘What works in preventing alcohol related harm’. There will be a Q&A session at the conclusion of Professor Webster’s talk. The program also includes a panel discussion with representatives from the local area police, a local youth centre, Liverpool council, health and other services. The day will conclude with an activity in which audience members will be invited to discuss alcohol related harm and come up with some measures to address it.
